Scott Carhoun
Cross Country Coach
Scott Carhoun has spent over 14 years in a cross country/track and field coaching role. His most recent experience comes as the owner/operator of Track Star USA, an online training service for track and field athletes. Through Track Star USA Carhoun has helped guide Masters aged athletes to national records at USA Track and Field Masters Championships and National Senior Games. While coaching at the collegiate level, from 2009 to 2010 Scott was an assistant with Lake Superior State's Track and Field Team where he worked with sprinters, hurdlers, and jumpers. He was also with Northern Michigan University from 2003 to 2007. In 2003 he was a student assistant with the Women's Track and Field Team and was a part of reinstating the program back to Wildcat Athletics. In 2004 he continued that trailblazing spirit by founding an NMU Men's Track and Field Club team that provided a varsity-level program for ten to 20 athletes. At the high school level, Scott has nine-year coaching experience. During that time, he aided in the development of two U.P. Finals Championship teams, two U.P. Finals Runner Up Teams, and 15 U.P. individual champions. As an athlete, Scott spent one year with the Ferris State University Track and Field Team and was just short of qualifying for Nationals. He was named the team's Most Valuable Athlete in that season. Prior to that he was a track and field and cross-country athlete for Stephenson High School. He was named All-U.P. three times, All-State twice, and Dream Team one time as a cross country runner. In track and field he was named All-State twice and was a U.P. Champion in 1998.
