Dr. Christopher S. Gravatt is currently the chemistry instructor at Bay De Noc Community College in Escanaba. He is a previous Bay College graduate receiving his Associates of Science Pre-Natural Resources in 2012. After transferring to Lake Superior State University in Sault Ste. Marie, MI he obtained dual Bachelor's of Science degrees in Chemistry and Environmental Chemistry in 2014. He then went on to pursue his PhD in Organic Chemistry at the University of Wisconsin at Madison graduating in 2020. His graduate research focused on developing new chemical reactions mediated by light, and their application toward complex natural product synthesis, in the rapidly growing field of photoredox catalysis. He then spent time in the pharmaceutical industry as a post doctoral researcher working for AstraZeneca in their oncology chemistry department in Boston, Ma before becoming an instructor at Bay in 2021.
