Amanda List is a Criminal Justice Adjunct Instructor at Bay West Community College. List was hired in August, 2008, not quite one year after she received a duty disability retirement with the Michigan Department of State Police, where she served as a State Trooper for 13 years. Trooper List enlisted with the Department on 9/11/1994 and was a graduating member of the 110th Trooper Recruit School. She was assigned to the Gaylord Post in January, 1995, she then transferred to the Iron River Post in 2000. Trooper List was officially retired on 10/20/2007. List graduated from Northern Michigan University in May, 1994 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice, concentration in Law Enforcement, and a Minor in Public Administration. While enlisted with the MSP, List was trained as an Advanced Accident Investigator (Traffic Crash), attended the Reid School for Interviewing and Interrogating child abuse and neglect suspects, attended the Governor’s Task Force on training for Forensic Interviewing for child victims of abuse and neglect, the LSI course SCAN-scientific content analysis training for handwriting samples, continuous legal updates, and was yearly certified in first aid training, defensive tactics, and firearms. List also worked undercover for a brief period of time with the UPSET team and assisted the SANE narcotic enforcement teams. Tpr. List worked light desk duty at the Kalkaska State Police Post for a short time in 1998, and was assigned the Intelligence Liaison Officer after 9/11 while at the Iron River Post. She served as a member of the Child Death Review Team in Otsego County and currently serves as a member in Dickinson County through her position in the Probate Court. In January, 2009, List accepted a position at the Dickinson County Family and Probate Court as an Intensive Juvenile Officer under the Honorable Judge Thomas Slagle. That position was as a part-time Juvenile Officer working with delinquent teenagers. To date, List is currently working fulltime as a Juvenile Officer/Family Caseworker handling the abuse and neglect caseload through the Family and Probate Court. List was trained and certified as a Juvenile Probation Officer/Caseworker through the Michigan Judicial Institute in conjunction with the Michigan Supreme Court in 2009. Since beginning at Bay West, List has instructed several of the Criminal Justice courses: Introduction to Criminal Justice, Introduction to Law Enforcement, Introduction to Corrections, Highway Safety and Traffic Enforcement, Criminal Justice Ethics, Client Relations in Corrections, American Government, Report Writing, Client Growth and Development, Crime Scene Investigation, Criminal Investigation, Legal Issues in Corrections, Emergency Preparedness and Crisis Management, and the Criminal Court System. She was an advisor for 3 years, has instructed several Directed Studies and oversees Internships. List also serves on the Iron Mountain City Council, being elected in 2012.
